The foreign government has also pledged 50 billion euro
for the overall rehabilitation of the entire area.

German Chancellor, Angela Mekel dropped the cheering
news during a joint press conference with President
Muhammadu Buhari in Berlin on Friday following some
bilateral exchanges.

“I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again,” - Mrs Aisha Buhari

President Buhari is currently in Germany for a three day
official visit.

Both leaders agreed to make the project a priority.
President Buhari had told his host that 30 million people in
the Lake Chad basin area were in danger of being forced to
leave should nothing be done to stop the drying of the lake.

President Buhari also linked the emergence and spread of
the Boko Haram terrorism as well as the increasing
number of illegal migrations to Europe from Africa to
joblessness, starvation and poverty arising from climate
change as manifested by the drying up of the lake.
